Reinforced Plastic Tarpaulin - UNHCR/UNICEF - 4 x 5m & 4 x 50m

Description

Reinforced flexible tarpaulins for temporary shelter or personal protection.
– For individual shelter purpose, it is recommended to use the 4 x 5m tarpaulins.
– For community shelter purpose, it is recommended to use the 4 x 50m rolls.
– If ready-made tarpaulins are not available they can be cut out of the rolls (10 per roll).

The eyelets are to be used to attach ropes, nails etc to improve the strength of the shelter.

Expected life span of 2 years minimum in the strongest tropical condition.

Technical Specifications

Material for the plain sheet Made of woven high-density black polyethylene (HDPE) fibers, warp x weft, laminated on both sides with low density polyethylene (LDPE) coating, with reinforced rims by heat sealing on all sides, (or 2 sides heat sealing and 2 sides double stitching), and a 3 to 5 millimeters diameter PE or PP (flexible materials) rope on the edge, inside the hem. 1000 denier minimum.
Reinforcement eyelets Provided with aluminum eyelets or equivalent on four sheet sides of the single sheets at 100 cm ±5 cm centre to centre, providing very strong fixation points.
Dimensions 4 x 5m: 4 x 5m +/- 1%, with eyelets
4 x 50m: 50m minimum length, width 4m +/- 1%
Weight, plain sheet only 190g/m² ± 20g under ISO 3801 (equivalent to 170g/m² minimum to 210g/m² maximum)
Tear strength in plain sheet at state of origin Minimum 100N under ISO 4674-1B 2003, with a test piece of 200x200mm as described in ISO 4674 annex B, in plain sheet.
Tensile strength in plain sheet at state of origin Minimum 500N and 15% to 35% elongation in warp and weft in plain sheet under ISO 1421-1.
UV resistance of the plain sheet, measured as remaining tensile strength after UV exposure The tarpaulin tensile strength under ISO 1421-1 after 1500 hours UV under ASTM G53/94 (UVB 313 nm peak) must be: Minimum 80% of the original value of the actual product, AND not less than 475N. To be tested in the plain sheet.
Tensile strength of the eyelets Minimum 700N inside the eyelets as per ISO 1421-1, pulling lengthwise with a hook of 8mm wire diameter. To test in 2 eyelets in each side.
Welding Only one (01) is allowed along the middle of the sheet, length wise. The tarpaulin tensile strength crossways at the place of the welding under ISO 1421-1 must be: Minimum 50% of the original value of the actual product, AND not less than 400N.
Fire Retardant Option available as per customer requirements
Opacity measured as minimum reflection and maximum transmission, in the range of visible light and near infrareds. Measured under ISO 13468-1. Values should be measured respectively from 350 to 750nm, and from 750 to 2500nm wavelength. The final result is the average of the averages in each range. Minimum total reflection: 35% Maximum total reflexion: 50% Maximum total transmission: 5%
Colour White sun reflective on both sides of the sheet. Inner black fibres to ensure opacity. White Coating colour definition:

Packing & Loadability

Packing, Weight & Volume:

Packing: Plastic tarpaulin sheets are packed in bales of 5 pieces and secured with polyester straps.

Weight per piece: Approx. 3.4kg – 3.8kg

Gross weight per bale: Approx. 17kg – 19kg

Volume per bale: approximately 0.0450 cbm (subject to variation depending on compression of bales)

Packing: The tarpaulins are packed individually in bales (for optimal loading capacity), folded in the middle and tied and sealed with a polyester band.

Weight per piece/bale: Approx. 38kg

Volume per bale: approximately 0.140 cbm (subject to variation depending on compression of bales)
