Hot-forged carbon steel, hardened and tempered; normalizing heat treatment on eye side.
Specifications
Head with a round eye, 36mm to 40mm, for insertion of the handle.
Rockwell hardness C (HRC): 48 minimum to 57 maximum near cutting edge.
Rockwell hardness C (HRC): 25 minimum to 30 maximum on eye side.
Content
Carbon content: 0.55% to 0.65%
Manganese content: 0.6% to 0.8%
Silicone content: 0.30% maximum
Phosphorus and Sulphur: 0.06% maximum

If supplied with handle:
Smooth surface: no chips, rough surface, holes or knots. Dry, strong flexible wood. Handle adjusted to head in order to protrude through the other side of the head, for blockading in place with a metal wedge.
